HID Ballast Ignitors are components used in High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting systems to facilitate the ignition of the lamp. The ignitor generates a high-voltage pulse needed to start the lamp by creating an initial spark across the electrodes. It works in conjunction with the ballast, which regulates the lamp’s power once it’s lit. Ignitors are essential for metal halide, high-pressure sodium, and other HID lamps, ensuring reliable startup and stable operation.
